The Assistant Plant Manager partners with the Plant Manager and leadership team to oversee daily plant operations and ensure safe, efficient, and productive performance. This role requires hands-on operational leadership, the supervision of plant personnel, the support of production goals, and assistance in maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and efficiency. The Assistant Plant Manager plays a key role in driving operational excellence and ensuring the facility consistently meets production and performance objectives. The Assistant Plant Manager guides and coordinates the day to day activities for multiple segments of the industrial, specialty and medical distribution and gas filling operations for a plant. This position partners in leading all gas cylinder processing, ultrasonic testing, and compliance stewardship with all Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Health & Safety Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), SAFECORE, and other business related compliance activities.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
2+ years of demonstrated experience working in a leadership role within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
Intermediate knowledge of Google suite applications and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
Strong analytical skills and a thorough understanding of how to leverage metrics and related tools to improve production efficiency and effectiveness.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Communication skills that ensure a smooth flow of information between self and others through clear speaking and writing, encouragement of open expression of ideas, and effective listening.
Demonstrated knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Self-starter; self-motivated; well organized; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Detail oriented with the ability to complete handwritten compliance documentation neatly and accurately.
Demonstrated dedication to product quality and customer satisfaction.

Nice To Haves

Prior technical experience with compressed gases, gas analysis and gas lab equipment.
Prior experience utilizing SAP

Responsibilities

Guides and supports a team of two or more associates involved in activities related to the plant, quality assurance lab, and/or drivers.
Coordinates and partners with other Plant Supervisors to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Promotes a strong safety and compliance culture proactively addressing unsafe practices or conditions without delay.
Aligns tasks with team members according to customers’ needs, current stock levels, and team members' unique strengths.
Studies production schedules and estimates team scheduling needs for completion of job assignments.
Maintains time and production records.
Clarifies company guidelines with the team and fosters adherence to safety practices.
Implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, quality of product, and updates working conditions and use of equipment to advance the collective rhythm of the team.
Initiates or suggests plans to inspire team members to thrive and achieve shared goals.
Navigates challenges and builds alignment on solutions or partners with team members in solving work-related hurdles.
Recommends or initiates associate actions, such as new hires, promotions, transfers, offboarding, performance improvement and performance alignment measures.
Welcomes and guides new team members and supports cross-training employees to continue production smoothly during team adjustments.
Provides assistance to the Plant Manager with regard to planning and managing capital investments.
Coordinates the proper inventory levels of supplies and equipment.
