About The Position

The Assistant Physical Therapist works in Acute Rehab Services at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham on an 8-hour day shift. The role conducts medically prescribed physical therapy under the supervision of a physical therapist and provides interventions according to a plan of care written by a physical therapist. The assistant uses techniques and skills appropriate to the patient population, documents treatment interventions, and may coordinate activities of physical therapy aides, students, and other support personnel. UAB St. Vincent’s is part of UAB Medicine and provides health care across Alabama. Requirements

Currently licensed, eligible to be licensed, or holding a temporary license as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) under the rules and regulations of the Alabama Board of Physical Therapy.
Obtain BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
Graduate from an accredited School of Physical Therapy Program. Work experience may not substitute for this education requirement.

Responsibilities

Conduct medically prescribed physical therapy under the supervision of a physical therapist.
Provide physical therapy interventions under a plan of care written by a physical therapist.
Perform therapy interventions using techniques and skills appropriate for the patient population.
Document treatment interventions provided.
May coordinate activities of physical therapy aides, students, and other support personnel.
