About The Position

This position involves conducting medically prescribed physical therapy under the supervision of a physical therapist. The Assistant Physical Therapist will provide interventions according to a plan of care written by a physical therapist, utilizing appropriate techniques and skills for the patient population. Responsibilities include documenting treatment interventions and potentially coordinating the activities of physical therapy aides, students, and other support personnel. The role is part of the Physical Rehab department and involves both aquatic and land-based interventions.

Requirements

Currently licensed, eligible to be licensed or having a temporary license as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) according to the rules and regulations of the Alabama Board of Physical Therapy required.
BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted
Graduate from an accredited School of Physical Therapy Program required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Responsibilities

Conduct medically prescribed physical therapy under the supervision of a physical therapist.
Provide physical therapy interventions under a plan of care written by a physical therapist.
Perform therapy interventions utilizing techniques and skills as appropriate for the patient population.
Document treatment interventions given.
May coordinate activities of physical therapy aides, students and other support personnel.
