About The Position

Assists the Park and Marina Manager in directing recreation activities and operations in the park and marina, ensuring that the policies, rules, and regulations of the MWCD are followed, and excellent customer service is provided to all visitors. This role also assists with dock and boat placement, retail sales operations, and in recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising staff. The Assistant Park and Marina Manager assumes responsibility for the park and marina in the absence of the Park and Marina Manager.

Requirements

  • Possession of an Associate’s Degree in parks and recreation management or natural resources management with two (2) or more years of comparable demonstrated work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training.
  • Knowledge of agency policies and procedures, park and marina operations, maintenance, groundskeeping, construction practices, computer software, CPR/First Aid.
  • Skilled in public relations and public speaking.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, multi-task, work well with the public, maintain accurate records, and prioritize work assignments.
  • Must possess a driver’s license valid in the State of Ohio and be insurable by MWCD fleet insurance.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain an Ohio Boater Education Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provides supervision to assigned staff, including scheduling work tasks, assigning work, interviewing job applicants, recommending hiring, discipline, and pay assignments, receiving grievances, and approving leave requests.
  • Conducts park and marina inspections, oversees facilities, and performs routine and preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment. Assists in maintaining the ODNR Clean Marina designation.
  • Ensures accurate use of park and marina reservation systems, compliance with income processing and record keeping, manages inventory, updates merchandise sales procedures, and determines operating hours.
  • Assists in overseeing park and marina compliance with budgeted funds, administering the budget and fiscal operations, reviewing staffing levels, tracking expenditures, preparing budgets and reports, and processing accounts payable utilities.
  • Participates in park and marina planning, goal setting, and suggesting new approaches to improve customer service. Seeks out grants and maintains required licensures and certifications.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned, attends meetings, training, and seminars as directed.
