About The Position

The Assistant Paramedic Program Coordinator serves as a key academic and operational partner to the Paramedic Program Coordinator, providing essential support in the leadership, coordination, and daily management of the Paramedic Education Program. This role helps ensure that all components of the program—didactic, lab, clinical, and field internship—operate effectively and in compliance with CAAHEP Standards and Guidelines for the Accreditation of Educational Programs in the EMS Professions (administered by CoAEMSP) and New York State Department of Health – Bureau of EMS (NYS DOH BEMS) Paramedic Program Requirements, including NYCRR Title 10, Part 800 regulations. The Assistant Paramedic Program Coordinator assists the Paramedic Program Coordinator with program oversight, faculty and adjunct coordination, student support, curriculum management, accreditation documentation, and affiliate engagement. This position plays a critical role in sustaining program continuity, maintaining accreditation readiness, supporting instructional quality, and ensuring students meet required competencies across all learning environments.

Requirements

  • Current New York State Paramedic certification
  • Certified Instructor Coordinator (CIC) per NYS DOH Division of EMS requirements (or eligible to obtain within 12 months of hire).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of field experience as a practicing Paramedic.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NYS DOH Division of EMS Paramedic curriculum, national EMS education standards, and scope of practice.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS credentials; instructor-level required within 6 months of hire.
  • Proficiency with EMS education technology, including simulation equipment, LMS systems, and competency tracking tools.
  • Associate degree in EMS, education, healthcare, or a related field (minimum requirement).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in EMS, education, healthcare, or a related field.
  • Experience developing EMS curriculum aligned with CoAEMSP and NYS DOH BEMS standards.
  • Previous teaching or leadership experience in an accredited EMS program.
  • Familiarity with CoAEMSP Appendix G, outcomes reporting, and accreditation processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation and documentation of all CoAEMSP Standards, including resource assessments, program evaluation, outcomes reporting, and advisory committee participation.
  • Assist with maintaining program accreditation files, including resource assessments, clinical affiliation agreements, preceptor qualifications, and student competency documentation.
  • Participate in submitting required reports, including the CoAEMSP Annual Report (ARC), Resource Allocation Matrix (RAM), outcomes tracking, and retention analysis.
  • Ensure the Paramedic curriculum aligns with the National EMS Education Standards, NYS Division of EMS Paramedic curriculum, and any updates issued by NYS DOH.
  • Deliver classroom, lab, and simulation instruction consistent with CAAHEP Standard II (Curriculum and Instruction) and NYS Division of EMS terminal objectives.
  • Assist in curriculum development and modification to ensure alignment with National EMS education standards, compliance with NYS DOH Division of EMS educational requirements, and integration of evidence-based EMS practices.
  • Conduct student evaluations using valid, reliable methods that meet CAAHEP Standards II-C and II-D.
  • Ensure psychomotor competency tracking in accordance with CoAEMSP Appendix G requirements.
  • Assist with coordination of clinical and field placement sites in accordance with CoAEMSP Standards, including maintenance of affiliation agreements and preceptor qualifications.
  • Ensure students meet NYS requirements for clinical and field minimum hours, skills, and team-lead experiences.
  • Conduct site visits to verify adequate clinical resources, preceptor engagement, and compliance with state and national standards.
  • Track and verify all competencies using systems such as FISDAP or college-approved platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with the Clinical Coordinator and FISDAP Monitor to ensure accurate documentation, compliance tracking, student progression review, and timely resolution of clinical or field placement issues.
  • Provide academic advising, remediation support, and professional conduct guidance consistent with CoAEMSP Standards.
  • Assist with maintaining student records, including attendance, health and immunization compliance, clinical requirements, and evaluations.
  • Support student orientation and progression through all phases of didactic, clinical, and field education.
  • Assist in ensuring faculty meet minimum CoAEMSP and NYS instructor requirements (e.g., CIC credentialing, instructor competency, continuing education).
  • Mentor adjunct faculty and lab instructors to maintain consistent delivery of course objectives.
  • Participate in program advisory committee meetings per CoAEMSP Standard III-D.
  • Maintain working relationships with EMS agencies, hospitals, and affiliate partners.
