About The Position

Gear Wash, a subsidiary of Fire-Dex, is a full-service UL Verified Independent Service Provider (ISP) specializing in the care and maintenance of Firefighter Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). They offer advanced cleaning, inspection, repair, alteration, and equipment customization services for first responders across the US. The company is seeking an Assistant Operations Supervisor to help manage daily operations, supervise employees, and ensure production and project schedules are met. This role involves planning and assigning work, implementing policies and procedures, and being responsible for the safety, quality, productivity, and cost-effectiveness of their work groups.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.
  • Previous successful manufacturing or production leadership experience.
  • Active leadership experience and familiarity with lean manufacturing and ISO standards.
  • Skilled in Microsoft applications, especially Word, Excel and Outlook and ability to learn new software programs and systems.
  • Open and effective communicator and collaborator with all levels of the organization and with external customers, including verbally and written, including being a team.
  • Team player, having a professional interface with others, getting results through collaboration while also being a self-starter.
  • Possess characteristics of servant leadership.
  • Strong sense of urgency, follow-through, and diligence, including meeting deadlines and have the ability to remain organized with and keep track of multiple sources of information and data.
  • Possess a solutions-focused mind-set.
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Efficient with multi-tasking and managing multiple priorities, including being productive while handling re-directions and interruptions, based upon business needs.

  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds due to the nature of handling garments.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably bilingual (English/Spanish), with the ability to interpret conversations, translate documents, and communicate effectively to support both management and Spanish speaking employees.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration or related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Work Order productivity throughput to management defined standards.
  • Assist in direct production goals as required.
  • Coach, train and supervise employees.
  • Assist in monitoring employee attendance and resolve employee issues.
  • Assist in monitoring and measuring employee productivity according to Management standards.
  • Identify, document and implement efficiency standards.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating written company Process and Procedure Guide for all controls according to company and industry standards.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve semi-complex problems and make quality decisions in a timely manner.
  • Maintain equipment per company schedule and develop working knowledge for general repair.
  • Develop strong working knowledge of the Gear Wash App and any other company systems.
  • Assist in the process of successful completion of company’s annual third-party verification program.
