About The Position

MEI Rigging & Crating is seeking an Assistant Operations Manager to join their team. The company has grown significantly since its founding in the early 1990s and is a leading provider of rigging, machinery moving, millwrighting, mechanical installation, industrial storage, crating, and export packing services across the United States. Requirements

  • HS diploma with continuing education in Business, Project or Construction Management or related degree a plus.
  • Minimum two (2) years proven dispatching and/or operations experience or comparable field preferably within the rigging, crane, logistics, or transportation industry.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Prior supervisory background or knowledge preferred.
  • Communicate effectively (written and verbal) with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to make judgement calls, problem-solve, or act with limited information.
  • Ability to manage multiple people, job sites, and/or resources simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal, management, supervisory and project management skills.
  • Highly self-directed and motivated.
  • Ability to excel and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling and assignment of rigging crews to jobs based on customer requirements and DOT regulations.
  • Ensuring rental and MEI owned equipment and tools are assigned to crews per job requirements and scheduled for maintenance.
  • Planning, coordinating, and scheduling work crews and equipment, including travel and load times.
  • Assigning and dispatching work crews daily to job sites and yard projects, ensuring employees are matched to jobs based on their skill sets.
  • Utilizing computer skills to dispatch/assign equipment and tools, and scheduling equipment repairs.
  • Preparing, organizing, and distributing job-related paperwork, including change orders, crew/equipment assignments, safety documents, and JHAs.
  • Performing data entry for labor and equipment into software applications and Excel.
  • Monitoring, reviewing, editing, and approving employee timecards and payroll.
  • Updating the dispatch job board daily with pending and confirmed jobs.
  • Coordinating, tracking, and scheduling the drop-off and pick-up of all equipment and rentals.
  • Communicating daily with job foremen and drivers for scheduling and dispatch efficiency.
  • Overseeing all activities of the rigging operation, from job site management to crew dispatching.
  • Developing, planning, and implementing schedules for the rigging crew in alignment with customer direction.
  • Participating in the hiring, coaching, training, and performance management of rigging crew members.
  • Working closely with safety personnel on safety training, accident/injury investigations, and reporting of equipment or property damage incidents.
  • Consistently demonstrating professional conduct representative of MEI's corporate mission, vision, and values.
