Under the general direction of the Insert Operation Manager, the Assistant Operations Manager is responsible for staffing, scheduling, and directing all employees on their shift to achieve all quality and production goals in the safest manner possible. You will work closely with the management of other departments and shifts to ensure that overall company goals are being met as efficiently as possible.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of inserting machines or other similar high-volume/high speed inserting machines regarding operation, minor set-up adjustment and safety preferred.
  • Must have computer skills; understand workflows, comprehensive of job tickets, have attention to detail, positive attitude, and a team player.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D., vocational or technical school diploma or certificate
  • Experience in similar mail facility with working knowledge of Inserting Machines desired
  • Read and write English.
  • 5 years supervisory exp.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule shift production to ensure that the shift production goals are met.
  • Address any foreseen production problems with the Management Team.
  • Report quality issues and production deviations to the Management Team.
  • Coordinate production-related problems between inserting and all other departments.
  • Ensure all quality standards and production Standard Work procedures are being enforced.
  • Foster a culture of Continuous Improvement by encouraging ideas from the production employees.
  • Follow procedures to complete turnover of shift in an organized and timely manner.
  • Communicate all necessary information to oncoming Management.
  • Maintain discipline and a professional environment at the workplace.
  • Participate in special projects to analyze, upgrade, and enhance operations and equipment.
  • Verify and review daily production reports and analyze discrepancies in production standards.
  • Implement procedures and productivity requirements and ensure such procedures and productivity requirements are maintained.
  • Maintain proper staffing levels on all shifts.
  • Supervise the training of staff to maintain a fully qualified work force.
  • Maintain employee morale by promoting and building a “team spirit” environment.
  • Ensure that Company policies and procedures are communicated to all shift employees and are followed.
  • Maintain safe work environment.
  • Perform any function of shift employee, when necessary.
  • Partner with Human Resources for staffing, training, and employee related issues.
  • Approve employee timecards and time off request.
