About The Position

The St. Charles Campus of Good Samaritan University Hospital, located in Port Jefferson, is seeking an Assistant Nursing Care Coordinator (ANCC) for its state-of-the-art multidisciplinary Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Stroke Unit. This unit cares for critically ill patients with cardiac, respiratory, septic, neurological, surgical, neurosurgical, orthopedic, and gynecology conditions. The ANCC will assist the Director & Nurse Manager in coordinating nursing care, mentoring and supervising the nursing team, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes. The role also involves advocating for patients and their loved ones through safety interventions, emotional support, and education.

Requirements

  • 1-2+ Years of RN experience working in an ICU setting
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree required
  • New York Registered Nurse (RN) License & Registration
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) & Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required

  • Previous leadership experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director & Nurse Manager in delegating and coordinating nursing care activities of all patients on the nursing unit
  • Mentor, supervise, and evaluate the team to reach their full potential and inspire continual professional growth
  • Partner with an interdisciplinary team including, but not limited to, attending physicians, registered nurses (RNs), and ancillary staff to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Advocate for and build meaningful relationships with patients and their loved ones through safety intervention, emotional support and education.
