About The Position

Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Nurse Manager for their Med Surg department. This full-time, day shift position involves leading and developing nursing staff, overseeing daily operations, ensuring high-quality patient care, and collaborating with leadership on quality improvement initiatives. The role requires strong clinical and operational management skills, with a focus on staff development and strategic delegation.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Registered Nurse credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Required professional licensure/certification AND 1 year of cumulative job specific experience required.

Responsibilities

Direct and supervise nursing associates, managing recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and ongoing professional development.
Manage daily nursing department operations to ensure patient access needs are met and high-quality clinical objectives are achieved.
Assign clinical duties based on individual staff competencies and monitor daily workflows to maintain high operational standards and job proficiency.
Partner with leadership to keep department processes up to date, while actively participating in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
