About The Position

The Assistant Nurse Manager serves as an adjunct to the Nurse Manager or Nursing Director by providing supervision and clinical expertise to staff in his/her assigned area. Assists the Nurse Manager in hiring and firing of nursing personnel, conducting periodic employee evaluations, orientation of new employees, and performance improvement activities. Assists the Nurse Manager in devising and managing the departmental budget(s). Facilitates positive customer service and patient-centered care on the nursing unit.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Florida
  • BLS from the American Heart Association is required for all areas.
  • ACLS from the American Heart Association is required at hire or transfer for those responsible for the following departments: Arrythmia Service (733210), Cardiac Holding Area (730501), Cardiology Interv North (733280), Code Blue Team (626003), CVICU (730400), Emergency Department (713200), Emergency Department Admin (710103), Emergency Department North (713280), FC Gastroenterology (703700), Float-ICU Flex (626000), Invasive Cardiology Lab (733200), MICU (700400), PACU (633600), Pain Management Center (750500), PICU (660401), Preop (633610), Surgery Center North (633480), and Trauma Center (713100).
  • PALS from the American Heart Association is required within 6 months of hire or transfer for those responsible for the following departments: Code Blue Team (626003), Emergency Department (713200), Emergency Department Admin (710103), Emergency Department North (713280), Float-ICU Flex (626000), PACU (633600), PICU (660401), PreOp (633610), SICU (630400), Surgery Center North (633480), and Trauma Center (713100).
  • NRP is required within 6 months of hire or transfer for those responsible for the following departments: Code Blue Team (626003), Emergency Department (713200), Emergency Department Admin (710103), Emergency Department North (713280), 2 L&D/Womens Srvcs-North TA (650380), 3N Obstetrics (650300), 3S Gyn-CC (650301), 6S NICU Level 3 (660400), Labor and Delivery (653100), Neo Natal Transport (663000), Normal Nursery-CC (653000), and Womens Acute Care Center (653500).
  • STABLE is required within 6 months of hire or transfer for those responsible for the following departments: 2 L&D/Womens Srvcs-North TA (650380), 3N Obstetrics (650300), 3S Gyn-CC (650301), 6S NICU Level 3 (660400), Labor and Delivery (653100), Neo Natal Transport (663000), Normal Nursery-CC (653000), and Womens Acute Care Center (653500).
  • Effective January 1, 2015, all new hires or transfers must have a professional certification within two years of hire or transfer. For certifications that require a specified number of cases or hours worked within the specialty, the certification must be applied for once the case/time requirement has been met, and the certification must be obtained within one year of the requirement having been met (e.g. oncology, chemotherapy, diabetes education).
  • 3-5 years - Practicing RN in acute care.
