The Critical Care Step-Down Unit (CCSU) is a 39-bed unit dedicated to providing high-quality, patient- and family-centered care. Our team cares for patients with a variety of complex medical conditions, including pulmonary, cardiac, and neurological disorders, as well as post-operative surgical patients requiring an elevated level of nursing care. CCSU also provides specialized care for ventilated tracheostomy patients. All team members participate in comprehensive hospital, nursing, and unit-specific orientations designed to support a successful transition into the role. Unit-specific competencies and core skills are completed during the orientation process to ensure confidence and clinical excellence. Our interdisciplinary team includes Registered Nurses (RNs) and Nursing Assistants (NAs) who work collaboratively to deliver exceptional patient care. Teamwork, communication, and mutual support are the foundation of our unit culture and are essential to maintaining a positive and cohesive work environment. Under the direction of the nurse manager or other nursing leader, the assistant nurse manager has responsibility for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the hospital and the nursing department and their effect on patient care in the department.
