About The Position

White Oak Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) for our Med/Surg Unit who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing. As an ANM, you will assure the delivery of quality department/clinical services in accordance with established hospital and regulatory/accreditation agency standards. You will implement daily operations, as defined by the care delivery model, for their unit with just in time adjustments to match patient needs with unit resources. You will also assist the Manager with the overall operations of their assigned department, including development of department goals and objectives consistent with the AHC’s mission and strategic plan, management of personnel, and preparing/monitoring of and accountability for the department budgets. You will collaborate with physicians and other members of the Health Care Team to assure the delivery of optimum age-appropriate patient care and promote cohesive work teams by actively supporting intra- and inter-disciplinary teamwork, within the department and organization. You will participate in the development of Evidence based Standards of care for clinical area of responsibility, ensure adherence to standards of care defined by professional and regulatory organizations, and be knowledgeable of structure standards. You will report significant events such as: near misses; adverse events; patient/family complaints; and any situation that affects the safe delivery of patient-centered care in a timely manner, communicating these events and resolutions to department clinical manager. You will demonstrate positive customer service, foster positive employee relations and assure that staff adheres to the Customer Service Behavioral Standards. You will promote a positive and professional image and be a role model, coach, mentor, problem solver and resource for staff and peers. You will execute all other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Degree in nursing (Associate, Diploma or Baccalaureate)
  • Current Maryland State nursing license
  • Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Nice To Haves

  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred
  • Two years’ work experience preferred in department-specific area
  • One year of supervisory experience preferred
  • Certification in department-specific area within the first year of the position

Responsibilities
