This is a full-time position available on a rotating shift schedule (D/E/N), with 8- & 12-hour shifts, and weekend and administrative on-call duties per unit policy. The Assistant Nurse Manager will support standards of care and provide consultation and expertise in the delivery of patient care within an inpatient setting. They will support activities at the service, nursing practice, and institutional level, and contribute to goal achievement through personal action and the facilitation of others. This role participates in community and professional organizations, demonstrating commitment to the promotion of nursing's visibility and future. The Assistant Nurse Manager provides expert patient care, serves as a resource, consults as requested, and communicates effectively within the unit and service. They also participate in the management of human resources, the development and evaluation of recruitment and retention strategies, and the monitoring of patient outcomes. Responsibilities may extend to the unit, program, or service level, and may include an expanded role as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

  • Med/Surg experience required.
  • Requires a BSN or matriculation in a BSN program from an accredited Nursing Program.
  • Requires an active New York State license in good standing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.

  • Demonstrates ability to function in the leadership role and be an active member of the leadership team.
  • Must have the ability to work collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team and coordinate a multidisciplinary approach to care.
  • This is a busy medical unit; all applicants must be team driven and dedicated to helping the unit exceed.
