About The Position

The Assistant Nurse Manager manages team members, operations, and patient care activities of a patient care unit during an assigned shift. Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).
Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
4–6 years of nursing experience.
0–2 years of leadership or management experience.

Responsibilities

Manage and lead team members, operations, and patient care activities within a patient care unit during an assigned shift.
Collaborate with team members and nursing management to develop methods, techniques, and analytical approaches to patient care.
Communicate, build consensus, and guide team members toward achieving department objectives.
Promote and maintain high-quality patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment.
Create a professional work environment that encourages respect, engagement, accountability, and optimal patient outcomes.
Promote appreciative inquiry and evidence-based, ethical, and compassionate practice.
Provide direction and guidance to patient care unit team members during an assigned shift.
May conduct performance reviews and provide input into hiring, promotions, and corrective actions.
Serve as a role model for clinical, educational, and leadership standards of professional practice.
Educate team members on new and existing department procedures and systems, including information systems and fiscal responsibility.
Provide nursing management with input on department budget allocations.
Ensure adherence to the established care delivery model and applicable scope and standards of practice.
Facilitate patient care unit compliance with The Joint Commission, CMS, New York State, the Department of Health, Public Health Law, HIPAA regulations, and system, hospital, and department standards.
Demonstrate core clinical competencies for the population under oversight to supervise and provide direct patient care.
Maintain current knowledge of scope and standards of practice, healthcare legislation, and population health.
Interpret policies, procedures, and technical methods for team members.
Identify opportunities and recommend evidence-based strategies and solutions to improve patient care delivery and team effectiveness.
Perform related duties as required.
