About The Position

The Assistant Nurse Manager assists with supervising and coordinating the administrative and operational activities in the assigned areas. This role collaborates with the interprofessional team to ensure safe and effective care delivery while promoting a culture of excellence. The Assistant Nurse Manager leads a team of nurses and clinical support, and supports managers/directors on larger units. Managerial responsibilities comprise 80% of the time, with the remaining time dedicated to ground support for frontline staff and assisting in direct patient care as needed. Key responsibilities include assisting managers/directors in planning and supervision of unit/department goals and objectives, as well as maintaining department's readiness for regulatory surveyors. The Assistant Nurse Manager serves as a professional role model, mentor, and clinical resource, fostering an environment for interdisciplinary team members' professional growth and optimal patient outcomes. This position is responsible for modeling core culture and safety behaviors to eliminate preventable harm and implement high reliability principles, and facilitates the implementation of change management, performance improvement, and strategic initiatives. The role supports the mission and vision of the organization and adheres to BSMH policies, with nurses expected to practice and deliver care in accordance with the core concepts and intention of the BSMH Nursing Professional Practice Model.

Requirements

  • Current RN license in state they are working or covered by compact
  • Bachelor of Science Nursing
  • 2 years nursing experience
  • 1-year minimum clinical experience in the acuity level of desired area

  • BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to entering patient care setting)
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (preferred)
  • ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (preferred)
  • NRP Neonatal Resuscitation Program (preferred)
  • TNCC Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (preferred)
  • ENPC Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (preferred)
  • National Board Certification Specialty (preferred)
  • Nurse Executive Certification or designated specialty certification (preferred)
  • Charge nurse or management experience (preferred)
