Assistant Night Manager Full Time
About The Position
BJ's Wholesale Club is seeking an Assistant Night Manager to ensure merchandise is properly stocked and available for sale, maintaining presentation standards, delivering a positive member experience, and overseeing the nightly execution and performance of merchandise department tasks. While this role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities, the Assistant Night Manager directs the work of the overnight team, coaching, teaching, and developing them to ensure Grand Opening Look Daily (GOLD) standards are met. This position also serves as Manager on Duty (MOD) as needed, taking responsibility for club operations, team leadership, and Member engagement. A forklift license certification is required and provided by BJ's.
Requirements
- Basic computer knowledge (MS Word, MS Excel, Email) required.
- Forklift operator required.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Open shift availability required.
- Must maintain all training and required certifications.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma, college degree, and/or big box wholesale, retail, grocery and/or management experience is preferred.
- Prior forklift operating and merchandising experience preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Direct the work of the overnight team, coaching, teaching, and developing team members to ensure GOLD standards.
- Teach, develop, and motivate team members for successful execution of club merchandising and ensuring merchandise availability.
- Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) as needed, taking responsibility for club operations, team leadership, and Member engagement.
- Lead overnight merchandising execution, driving performance through communication, clear expectations, and hands-on leadership.
- Support execution of merchandising tasks, including coordinating staffing, training, and task execution for forklift operators and merchandising teams.
- Execute key overnight merchandising tasks such as display setup, pallet movement, and sales floor resets.
- Maintain merchandise presentation and availability, ensuring products are merchandised with correct signage and in proper quantities.
- Execute company directives, merchandising plans, resets, and sales initiatives accurately and on time.
- Identify opportunities to enhance sales by recommending merchandising strategy improvements.
- Oversee maintenance and safe operation of overnight equipment and the building, including forklifts and refrigeration.
- Model and enforce safe equipment usage, including operating forklifts safely and performing required inspections.
- Drive safety and sanitation compliance, leading and validating safety checks and enforcing sanitation procedures.
- Ensure proper execution of inventory controls, including daily Hot List completion and accurate pallet tag placement.
- Promote audit readiness and compliance by ensuring required documentation and safety processes are completed.
- Utilize reporting tools to prioritize and validate execution, guiding team focus and enhancing efficiency.
- Partner with other Assistant Night Managers, Department Managers, and club leadership to ensure overnight processes align with daytime operations.
- Uphold and enforce all company policies, operational guidelines, and safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance on overnight shifts.
