Assistant Night Manager Full Time
About The Position
BJ's Wholesale Club is seeking an Assistant Night Manager to ensure merchandise is properly stocked and available for sale, maintaining presentation standards, delivering a positive member experience, and overseeing the nightly execution and performance of merchandise department tasks. While this role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities, the Assistant Night Manager directs the work of the overnight team, coaching, teaching, and developing them to ensure Grand Opening Look Daily (GOLD) standards are met. This position also serves as Manager on Duty (MOD) as needed, taking responsibility for club operations, team leadership, and Member engagement during assigned shifts. A forklift license certification is required, with BJ's covering associated costs and training.
Requirements
- Basic computer knowledge (MS Word, MS Excel, Email) required.
- Forklift operator required.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Open shift availability required.
- Must maintain all training and required certifications.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma, college degree, and/or big box wholesale, retail, grocery and/or management experience is preferred.
- Prior forklift operating and merchandising experience preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Direct the work of the overnight team, coaching, teaching, and developing them to ensure Grand Opening Look Daily (GOLD) standards are in place.
- Teach, develop, and motivate all team members for the successful execution of club merchandising and ensuring merchandise is available for sale in proper quantities.
- Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) for the club as needed, taking full responsibility for club operations, team leadership, and Member engagement.
- Lead overnight merchandising execution, driving performance through effective communication, clear expectations, and hands-on leadership.
- Support the execution of merchandising tasks, assisting in coordinating staffing, training, and task execution for forklift operators and merchandising teams.
- Execute key overnight merchandising tasks, including display setup, pallet movement, and sales floor resets to ensure the club is prepared for morning operations.
- Maintain merchandise presentation and availability, ensuring products are merchandised with correct signage and in the right quantities.
- Execute company directives with precision, implementing corporate merchandising plans, resets, and sales initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to enhance sales by recommending improvements to merchandising strategies.
- Oversee maintenance and safe operation of overnight equipment and the building, including forklifts, refrigeration, and merchandising tools.
- Model and enforce safe equipment usage, operating forklifts safely and ensuring team members follow safety and sanitation protocols.
- Drive safety and sanitation compliance, leading and validating safety checks and enforcing sanitation procedures.
- Ensure proper execution of inventory controls, overseeing daily Hot List completion and verifying accurate pallet tag placement.
- Promote audit readiness and compliance by confirming completion of required documentation and safety processes.
- Utilize reporting tools to prioritize and validate execution, guiding team focus and enhancing efficiency.
- Partner with other Assistant Night Managers, Department Managers, and club leadership to ensure overnight processes align with daytime operations.
- Comply with club policies and procedures, upholding and enforcing all company policies, operational guidelines, and safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance on overnight shifts.
