About The Position

Stayton Middle School is hiring a seasonal Assistant Coach for its dance team. Under the direction of the head coach, the assistant coach teaches and coaches student-athletes who want to excel in dance, helping them develop knowledge, skills, and performance in a positive, supportive environment. The position is subject to need based on the number of participants and is a temporary position on a renewable one-year contract. The 2026–27 seasonal pay (row CC) ranges from $1,900 to $2,850, depending on verifiable prior paid coaching experience in this sport.

Requirements

• Be able to assist in the main and auxiliary gyms and work Saturdays.
• Hold Concussion and Steroid Training Certification.
• Have First Aid/CPR and Epi-Pen/Medical Training.
• Demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills.
• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
• Maintain a high level of ethical behavior.

• Experience or expertise in other coaching areas.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the direction and oversight of the development of a successful program.
• Assist with organizing practices and instructing athletes in the fundamentals of the sport.
• Assist in developing athletes’ leadership skills, positive self-image, and pride.
• Assist with implementing the athletic philosophy concerning attitude, discipline, rules, and academic standards.
• Foster good working relationships with parents, teaching staff, other coaches, and the community.
