About The Position

As our Assistant Mill Chemist, you will be the co-pilot of our chemical systems, directly influencing safety, product quality, and production efficiency. You will work side-by-side with our Mill Chemist and production team, having a massive impact on daily operations, spearheading innovation through trials, and helping shape the future of our mill. This role is for individuals who thrive in dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environments and love solving complex, real-world problems.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science (4-year) in Pulp and Paper Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in Paper Mill Chemistry or Chemical Technical Service.
Strong foundation in chemistry, process engineering, and papermaking chemistry.
Ability to use college-level algebra, geometry, and calculus to troubleshoot process, equipment, and quality issues.
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
Robust computer literacy (including Microsoft Office).
Excellent English verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for team training.

Nice To Haves

Direct Paper Mill experience is highly preferred.
Forklift Operator Certificate
Manlift Operator Certificate

Responsibilities

Design, run, and evaluate chemical trials to improve performance.
Design and install cutting-edge chemical equipment.
Manage and maintain robust chemical delivery systems and raw material inventories.
Monitor, report, and optimize chemical costs to drive mill efficiency.
Uphold and champion the highest safety standards across all chemical areas.
Monitor laboratory equipment and train operators on technical and chemical concepts to build a stronger crew.
