About The Position

As an Assistant Merchant, you will work closely with the Merchandising team to support the Décor assortment for our flagship brand, Balsam Hill. You will serve as a key point of contact for cross-functional teams, managing product data, processes, and execution to support the on-time, successful launch of décor products. This role blends operational excellence with analytical support, helping drive merchandising strategies while ensuring accuracy, organization, and efficiency across the product lifecycle. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced and evolving environment, and communicates effectively while providing strong operational and analytical support to the Merchant Team. This full-time position reports to the Senior Merchant, Decor, and operates on a hybrid schedule, with in-office days on Mondays in Redwood City and Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Burlingame. Requirements

  • 2+ years of merchandising experience
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills
  • Extremely detail-oriented with a strong focus on data accuracy and process efficiency
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong structured thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, frequently changing environment

Responsibilities

  • Request, maintain, and manage data for seasonal line lists, Product Information Forms (PIFs), and the Product Information Management (PIM) system
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and organization of product data across new and carryover items
  • Review vendor-provided product information to validate accuracy and resolve discrepancies
  • Ensure cross-functional teams have access to clear, accurate product information to support successful launches
  • Serve as a liaison with vendors regarding product details, sample status, packaging, and labeling needs
  • Communicate updates and key product information to internal stakeholders across teams
  • Build strong relationships with cross-functional partners to support execution of merchandising initiatives
  • Order, track, test, organize, and label photo and catalog samples; maintain supporting documentation
  • Coordinate movement of merchandise to sample rooms and maintain organization of sample spaces
  • Support catalog pagination by tracking items on spreads and preparing documentation for partners
  • Manage catalog photo sample processes and assist with photo shoots
  • Assist in proofing catalog and marketing materials to ensure accurate product data
  • Support seasonal presentations through slides and visual boards
  • Assist in executing merchandising strategies and achieving financial objectives
  • Provide general administrative and ad hoc merchandising support as needed
  • Analyze market trends and customer behavior to inform product promotion, pricing, and lifecycle decisions
  • Research competitor pricing and merchandising strategies
  • Support decision-making through data analysis and insights
