About The Position

Monarch Beach Golf Links in Dana Point, California, is hiring a full-time Assistant Merchandiser. The role offers customer service while selling merchandise and assists management with merchandising, inventory control, reservations, and preparation for special events. The position is part of Troon, a global golf and community management company. The stated pay range is $23.00 to $25.00 per hour, depending on experience.

The Assistant Merchandiser receives and processes merchandise shipments, maintains displays and shop inventory, supports ordering and special orders, and helps with inventory and reporting. The position also sells merchandise, assists with staff scheduling and training, and performs other duties as required. The work environment has moderate noise. The physical demands include frequent standing and hand use, occasional walking and other movements, and lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree (AA), or six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and speak English may be required to perform job duties, including communicating with English-speaking customers or coworkers and using equipment manuals.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior guest service while selling and maintaining retail shop merchandise.
• Receive shipments, prepare merchandise, and enter received merchandise into inventory through the POS system.
• Create attractive merchandise displays and update them regularly to maintain a fresh appearance in the shop.
• Extract end-of-month reporting from the POS/inventory system.
• Populate the Open to Buy plan with end-of-month sales, cost of sales, and inventory-level information.
• Process receiving documents for accounts payable.
• Lead or assist with monthly and quarterly inventory in retail shops.
• Maintain a receiving log and cross-check it against the general ledger monthly.
• Maintain sufficient stock levels and assist with ordering merchandise for the retail shop.
• Place special orders for members and guests.
• Keep stockrooms organized so items are easy to locate.
• Assist with scheduling and training shop staff.
• Process return authorizations.
• Incorporate safe work practices into job performance.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as required.
