About The Position

Adolfson & Peterson Construction is seeking an experienced Assistant MEP Manager to oversee Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Technology systems for a large data center project near Alexandria, LA. This role involves managing MEP components from design coordination through project completion and close-out, with project scopes typically under $50 million for a single system on a complex project. Travelers will receive per diem, trips, and additional incentives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field.
  • 3+ years of MEP and commercial construction experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam Revu, document management software such as Procore, and Navisworks.
  • Demonstrated integrity and ethical standards.
  • Strong analytical and logic skills with the ability to maintain a high degree of precision on detailed work.
  • Developed communication skills (written, oral, and listening) to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously under time constraints.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build successful and lasting relationships.
  • History of progressively more complex and in-depth experience with proven results in MEP.

Responsibilities

  • Support IIF (Incident and Injury Free) efforts to foster a culture of care and safety.
  • Consistently communicate and reinforce IIF workplace principles.
  • Ensure adherence to processes and procedures that support an IIF culture.
  • Comply with all company safety requirements and policies.
  • Provide direction to ensure timely and quality project results.
  • Act as a trusted partner with clients, agencies, subcontractors, and design teams.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology work, including supervision of design and progress.
  • Coordinate the project with local, city, state, and county codes and officials.
  • Ensure quality inspections, audits, and testing are conducted with integrity, scheduled timely, and with proper resources.
  • Provide technical guidance to Superintendents and Project Managers.
  • Prepare accurate quantity surveys and create MEP price checks.
  • Review project plans for constructability and cost feasibility.
  • Assist with project risk assessments and identify potential service outages/interruptions.
  • Read and comprehend drawings and specifications, anticipating items not clearly depicted.
  • Collaborate with VDC and project teams to resolve MEP issues.
  • Assist with review of RFIs, Submittals, and Change Order Requests.
  • Build and facilitate collaborative team processes among project participants.
  • Participate in meetings to ensure project goals are reflected in coordinated MEP systems.
  • Foster subcontractor interest in projects for budgeting and proposal coverage.
  • Help develop RFP language and work with MEP subcontractors to ensure proposals are complete and comparable.
  • Work closely with client/owner and project team to ensure MEP systems are installed and perform as expected.
  • Coordinate overlapping scopes of work between MEP trade partners.
  • Coordinate with commissioning agent and MEP trade partners to establish start-up and commissioning schedule.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
