Assistant Men's Basketball Coach
About The Position
The University of Maine at Augusta is seeking an Assistant Coach for our Men’s Basketball program. This position provides an opportunity to help create a positive, supportive experience for student athletes while promoting their athletic, academic, and personal development. This temporary, 10-month appointment, runs from July 1 through April 30. The salary is $2,000 for the full appointment. This position requires a flexible schedule, including practice, games, travel, evenings and weekends. The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach is responsible for assisting with the women's field hockey program, including coaching, recruitment, team administration, student athlete development, travel, and compliance with University and departmental requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience coaching women's field hockey.
- Ability to recruit, organize, instruct, and supervise student athletes.
- Ability to create a positive and educational athletic experience.
- Valid driver's license in good standing.

Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning, organizing, and supervision of team practices and games.
- Assist with coaching and instructing student athletes in basketball skills, strategies, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Assist with recruiting prospective student athletes for the program.
- Promote a positive team environment that supports student athlete growth and development.
- Assist with monitoring student athletes' academic progress and supporting their success through weekly in-season study halls and referrals to appropriate student resources when needed.
- Assist with submitting team rosters and other required information to the Athletic Director for eligibility review.
- Assist with collecting required student athlete documentation.
- Transport student athletes to and from games as needed.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety protocols and University and departmental policies.
