The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational community and have a desire and ability to serve a population of students with various needs and backgrounds. This is a part-time position with no benefits. The ideal candidate will work in conjunction with head coach to supervise and develops an intercollegiate varsity team, including in-season and off-season programming, in accordance with institutional and departmental objectives within the rules and regulations of the athletic governing bodies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience coaching basketball at a competitive level

Responsibilities

  • Assist head coach in establishing team goals for season and ensure that they are in line with those of the entire MassBay Athletic program
  • Responsible for recruiting and training eligible players, organizing, implementing, coordinating and supervising all aspects of the team sport and for attending practices and games
  • Responsible for knowledge of and adhering to league rules and best practices pertaining to sport techniques, rules and regulations
  • Communicate daily with Assistant Director of Athletics regarding season progression including details regarding practices, game results, and player eligibility
  • Distribute and collect all team equipment to players throughout the season
  • Represents the university and team at all appropriate athletic events (e.g. competitions, conferences, and college sanctioned programs such as open houses)
  • Assists with game day set-up and breakdown
  • Other duties as assigned
