About The Position

DePauw University is seeking a part-time Assistant Men's and Women's Tennis Coach. This role involves assisting the head coaches in all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division III tennis program. Responsibilities include recruiting student-athletes, planning practices and game strategies, scouting, coaching, scheduling, budgeting, and managing team travel in compliance with all relevant rules and regulations. The position emphasizes sportsmanship, ethical conduct, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must maintain certification in first aid/CPR/AED throughout the entire appointment.
  • Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, Google Apps, Teamworks, other programs as determined by specific sport responsibilities.
  • A valid US driver’s license is required.
  • Certification in first aid/CPR/AED is required by the first date of appointment and must be maintained throughout the appointment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Commitment to and history of strong belief in mentoring students and demonstrated experience working with young adults.
  • Desire to work in a rural, small-school environment devoted to providing liberal arts education, building community, and helping students prepare for their future careers.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred.
  • Collegiate playing experience in tennis is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and comply with NCAA Division III, conference, and University rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrate sportsmanship and ethical conduct.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and a commitment to a diverse community.
  • Implement and execute a comprehensive recruiting plan for the identification and recruitment of qualified student-athletes, and maintain an acceptable roster per the University.
  • Develop and implement plans and strategies for practices and competition which result in athletics success.
  • Mentor student-athletes to ensure athletics and academic success.
  • Make transportation and lodging arrangements for team travel.
  • Administer a fiscally sound athletics program.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Monitor student-athletes’ academic progression.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics or head men's and women's Tennis coach.
