About The Position

Amherst College invites applications for the Assistant Men’s and Women’s Squash Coach position. This is a full-time, 12-month position. The role reports to the Head Coach and supports all phases of the Squash Program. Responsibilities include assisting with practice planning and coaching, contributing to recruiting efforts, and fulfilling day-to-day operational needs of the program. The role supports a diverse student body and participates in the College’s commitment to fostering a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming environment. Evening, weekend, and occasional travel to meets and competitions are required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, or 4-6 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience (collegiate or competitive level preferred).
  • Understanding of the role of athletics in a competitive academic environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive college vehicles; must successfully complete the Five College Risk Management driver credentialing program.
  • Willingness and availability to work nights, weekends, and travel overnight as required.
  • Successful completion of required reference and background checks.
  • An acceptable criminal offender records information (CORI) check.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the instruction of student-athletes in technical skills, strategy, and overall performance development.
  • Support pre-season, in-season, and post-season training sessions, including practice preparation and coaching.
  • Provide feedback on individual and team performance and help reinforce team culture and standards.
  • Contribute to a positive, supportive, and inclusive team environment.
  • Assist in identifying, evaluating, and recruiting a diverse group of prospective student-athletes.
  • Maintain regular communication with recruits and monitor their progress throughout the admissions process.
  • Help coordinate, schedule, and support on-campus visits and virtual recruiting interactions.
  • Represent the program in a positive and professional manner to recruits, families, and club/HS coaches.
  • Support daily program operations, including equipment organization, meet preparation, and travel logistics.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as roster management, scheduling, and record keeping.
  • Ensure compliance with College, NESCAC, CSA and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Collaborate with athletics staff and campus partners to maintain smooth program function.
