The Assistant Meat & Seafood Manager is responsible for assisting on all functions specific to the Meat and Seafood Department and ensures that the department runs smoothly and effectively. The Assistant Manager assists the Manager in overseeing the department operations ensuring proper department merchandising, product quality, and compliance with all health code and unit price regulations. Meat & Seafood replenishment buying consists of purchasing to ensure healthy inventory and back stock levels, as well as preparing and executing all tasks involving ordering for the monthly sales.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of retail meat/seafood experience and team supervision
  • Strong knowledge of meat cuts, breaking down primals, and knife skills
  • Understanding of health & sanitation standards
  • Ability to order effectively and manage inventory systems
  • Leadership and communication skills to build a productive, motivated team
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and early mornings as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with local sourcing and sustainable food practices is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day operations of the Meat & Seafood department
  • Assist in buying, ordering, and managing inventory and backstock
  • Train, coach, and support department staff and meat cutters
  • Maintain high standards in food safety, cleanliness, and compliance
  • Ensure proper product merchandising, display building, and signage
  • Provide exceptional guest service, including special orders and education
  • Collaborate with vendors, farmers, and internal teams to keep products fresh, local, and well-stocked
  • Participate in hiring, scheduling, reviews, and ongoing staff development
