About The Position

The Assistant Meat Manager supports the Meat Manager in overseeing all aspects of meat department operations, including merchandising, production, inventory management, food safety, customer service, and associate development. This position helps ensure the department achieves sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction goals while maintaining high standards for product quality and freshness.

Requirements

  • Support department sales, merchandising, and promotional initiatives.
  • Ensure fresh meat and seafood products are properly displayed, rotated, and stocked.
  • Monitor department conditions to maintain cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards.
  • Assist in executing seasonal programs, special events, and company initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and direction to meat department associates in the absence of the Meat Manager.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and developing associates.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
  • Support scheduling and labor management to meet customer demand and business needs.
  • Ensure associates follow company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and promote a customer-first culture.
  • Assist customers with product selection, special requests, cooking recommendations, and custom cutting requests.
  • Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently.
  • Build customer loyalty through product knowledge and quality service.
  • Assist in overseeing cutting, trimming, grinding, wrapping, and packaging of meat products.
  • Ensure products meet company quality, freshness, and presentation standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering and replenishment.
  • Support shrink reduction efforts through proper product rotation, forecasting, and inventory management.
  • Help achieve department sales, gross profit, labor, and shrink goals.
  • Assist with inventory control, receiving, pricing, and ordering activities.
  • Ensure accurate signage, pricing, and promotional execution.
  • Review department performance reports and assist with corrective actions when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, health department, and company standards.
  • Monitor proper food handling, storage, labeling, and temperature controls.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Support department readiness for audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
