About The Position

Scotbilt Homes, a division of Champion Home Builders, Inc., is seeking to hire a full-time Assistant Materials Manager to join their Purchasing Team. This role is crucial for ensuring the Production Team has the necessary materials to build homes on schedule. The Assistant Materials Manager performs the same duties as the Materials Manager and directs and coordinates activities related to purchasing and distributing materials, equipment, and supplies, especially when the Materials Manager is absent.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with supply chain and inventory management systems
  • Understanding of forecasting and budgeting
  • Working knowledge of Navision
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • A problem-solver
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university and three to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, directs, and controls activities related to the implementation of corporate contracts.
  • May enter information into Navision and validate its correctness.
  • Organizes, supervises, and directs the work of storeroom and central supply personnel engaged in receiving, issuing, and delivering supplies and equipment.
  • Prepares and issues purchase orders and change notices based on inventory needs after an inventory is taken.
  • Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
  • Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications.
  • Oversees all activities related to procurement of a commodity, from intent to purchase through delivery of commodity.
  • Interfaces with corporate purchasing on supplier problems and gives feedback on supplier quality.
  • Updates corporate purchasing on new products used and specification changes.
  • Works with the Controller to ensure Finance Policy 2100 is followed.
  • Works with suppliers on invoice and payment issues.
  • Directly supervises the Counters.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
