About The Position

Helps manage a team of employees in a designated location, ensuring compliance with Excel and Planet Fitness policies, practices, and objectives. This role involves assisting the General Manager (GM) in various operational and personnel management tasks to ensure a positive and productive club environment.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • HS diploma or equivalent required.
  • CPR/AED certification required (uncertified players have 30 days to complete).
  • Proven ability to lead, encourage, develop, and supervise the work of others.
  • Familiar with Excel mission, values, vision, and culture, as well as the Planet Fitness brand and operational requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability, confidence, and leadership to manage a team.
  • Effective communication skills with internal and external customers.
  • Must be team-oriented, motivated, and well organized.
  • Ability to think critically and evaluate solutions to problems proactively.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations and deal with sensitive and highly confidential information.
  • Basic understanding in Microsoft Excel and Word; DataTrak; Workday; Service Channel; and other related applications.

Responsibilities

  • Assist GM in planning and implementing strategies to attract and retain members based on Excel Core Values and maintaining a positive culture.
  • Accountable for the hiring process, including candidate selection, interviewing, and ensuring onboarding documentation is completed to standards.
  • Train and develop new team members, ensuring they stay up-to-date on certifications and scheduled training requirements.
  • Counsel and discipline team member performance.
  • Supervise, inspire, motivate, and coach staff to perform to their best abilities.
  • Support GM with monitoring club KPI (Key Performance Indicators) goals and metrics.
  • Support the GM in auditing and approving HRIS items, including payroll, timecards, bonus submissions, time off requests, onboarding/offboarding tasks, and job requisition postings.
  • Ensure a clean facility with a great atmosphere and world-class member service by performing daily club inspections, assigning cleaning tasks, and re-inspecting completed tasks.
  • Enter work orders into the Computer Maintenance Management System to ensure facility and equipment are serviceable.
  • Hold Team Players accountable for meeting company standards, audit daily paperwork, and resolve day-to-day member issues.
  • Manage club inventory and communicate with GM and HQ on placing necessary orders.
  • Assist GM and back office with marketing and promotional activities for the club.
  • Create club schedules and edit/verify payroll items (and associated commissions if applicable).
  • Ensure all Team Players adhere to company policies and guidelines and address minor infractions.
  • Report major infractions with GM and HR to formulate a plan to address them.
  • Audit club inventory and communicate recommendations for inventory orders to the General Manager.
  • Assist GM with conducting Team Player Assessments (TPAs) and competency evaluations.
  • Maintain availability while off shift to field operational questions and/or emergencies.
  • Be on call during company Peak Season/Sale Expirations when needed to support club needs.
  • Oversee club operations and staff when the GM is off or unavailable.
  • Assist GM and represent the company at community events and other outreach activities.
  • Assist GM with conducting and leading regularly scheduled team meetings.
  • Assist the Personal Training Manager (PTM) in planning and implementing strategies to attract and retain members.
  • Support PTM with monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPI) goals and metrics for the club.
  • Communicate with PTM to ensure all Personal Trainer (PT) certifications are current and help drive the performance of pe@pf and personal training sessions.
  • Support the PTM to audit/approve all HRIS items for Personal Trainers, including service hours, PT session pay, timecards, commissions, and bonuses.
  • Work closely with the Regional Personal Training Manager (RPTM), Personal Training Revenue Manager (PTRM), and PTM to develop and track KPIs for the Personal Training department.
