Assistant Manager, Washington Square
About The Position
Soma is an intimate apparel brand focused on comfort, confidence, and helping women feel empowered. The Assistant Manager assists the Store Manager in leading the team, building community connections, and creating a seamless customer experience. The role fosters a welcoming environment for associates and customers and supports memorable, personalized experiences that reflect the company’s culture of hospitality. The Assistant Manager helps build and develop a team, achieve store financial goals, and maintain brand standards on the sales floor and throughout store operations. The position also supports hiring, coaching, inventory management, replenishment, policy compliance, and company-sponsored community initiatives.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Team-player mindset with a high level of ownership and initiative.
- Ability to develop strong customer and peer relationships.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to bend, reach, and stretch for products; maneuver around the sales floor and stockroom; operate the register; and lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- Three years of retail management experience preferred.

Responsibilities
- Build, lead, and develop a team to deliver a customer-centered experience.
- Take ownership of the store’s financial goals and motivate the team to achieve them.
- Assist with hiring, development, and coaching of associates.
- Lead by example on the sales floor, share product knowledge, and use an omni-channel approach.
- Maintain a visually inspiring store environment that reflects brand standards.
- Support safe and efficient store operations, including inventory management, daily floor replenishment, and inventory execution.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, guidelines, and business practices.
- Build community connections through in-store company-sponsored events, philanthropy, and other initiatives.
