About The Position

The Assistant Processing Center Manager is responsible for supervising employees and daily operations at the processing center, as well as for the facility’s overall productivity and profitability. This role involves training, coaching, and managing personnel, overseeing departmental structure and development, maintaining operational procedures, and responding to challenges in a fast-paced, metric-driven environment. The position also requires coordination with other departments, problem-solving with various stakeholders, and ensuring a safe and clean working environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year managerial or supervisory experience required.

  • Demonstrate the implementation of best practices as required by the SVdP Safeguarding policy when interacting with children and vulnerable adults.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.
  • Ability to effectively communicate a wide variety of information to employees, customers, and clients. Good listening, verbal and written skills are required.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations necessary to manage a retail business, the ability to prioritize and execute responsibilities, and the critical thinking skills necessary for good decision-making.
  • Familiarity with basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of POS systems, Windows operating system, Microsoft Office Suite and Google applications required.
  • Typing 35 words per minute is required.
  • Employees must frequently stand, walk, talk and hear, use hands to handle or touch product, tools, or controls.
  • Employees must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance and occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs. with assistance from equipment or another person.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Employee must be able to follow instructions and work autonomously on assigned job duties.
  • Employee must be able to work assigned shifts consistently and reliably.

Responsibilities

  • Train, supervise and coach processing center personnel while implementing Company Policies and work rules.
  • Make discipline recommendations to the Processing Center Manager and Senior Director of Retail Operations/Associate Director of Retail Operations (SDRO/ADRO).
  • Manages departmental structure, development and monitors production goals.
  • Maintains proper cash handling and point-of-sale procedures.
  • Plans and manages projects related to departmental functions.
  • Manages and supports change with direct reports.
  • Respond appropriately and creatively to the challenges of operating a profitable facility/department via expense controls, employee scheduling and recycling programs.
  • Maintain employee timekeeping with the use of a payroll system.
  • Coordinate charitable contributions and client services with the Service Center Manager.
  • Make reasonable attempts to solve problems arising from customers, volunteers, clients, donors, and staff while utilizing de-escalation skills. Any unresolved problems are to be referred to the Senior Director of Retail Operations/Associate Director of Retail Operations (SDRO/ADRO).
  • Help with the recruiting process for open positions as needed. Conduct phone and in-person interviews as directed by the Processing Center Manager.
  • Meet deadlines for employee reviews and formal coaching expectations.
  • Communicate and represent the interests and needs of the facility to the Processing Center Manager and SDRO/ADRO.
  • Communicate facility maintenance problems to the Processing Center Manager and Facilities Manager to provide a safe and clean working environment that complies with all state and local building and fire codes while implementing safety policies through training, reporting safety hazards, and correcting unsafe employee practices.
  • Attend management meetings as scheduled by the Senior Director of Retail Operations/Associate Director of Retail Operations in the absence of the Processing Center Manager.
  • Work hand in hand with staff to maximize production efficiencies and promote a spirit of teamwork within the processing center.
  • Help maintain Google Calendar for proper time management proficiencies.
  • Responsible for completing other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
