About The Position

The Assistant Manager assists and consults with the Store Manager on overall store operations and administrative duties, including determining methods and approaches to accomplish store goals. The role requires knowledge of each product area or department and adherence to policies, procedures, and standards in the visual manual. The Assistant Manager is passionate about outstanding customer service and promoting merchandise, assumes supervisory control when the Store Manager is absent, and is trained in Store Manager responsibilities. The Assistant Manager helps oversee store assets, personnel, sales, inventory, merchandising, ordering, scheduling, and profitability. The position provides guidance to employees and customers, maintains service standards, supports recruiting and training, and performs general administrative duties. In the Store Manager’s absence, the Assistant Manager supervises employees and carries out related management responsibilities.

Requirements

Experience working in a retail environment; footwear and athletic apparel experience is preferred.
1–3 years of customer service experience.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and precisely.
Team player with a passion for outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.

Responsibilities

Assist the Store Manager in controlling company assets.
Consult with the Store Manager on action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, scheduling, and other departmental and store responsibilities.
Assume responsibility for the entire store in the Store Manager’s absence.
Assist with personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation.
Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across departments.
Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to support profitability.
Direct staff to ensure departmental responsibilities and standards are completed.
Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
Maintain quality customer service and provide extraordinary service, including helping customers as they enter and assisting multiple customers during peak periods.
Promote and sell company services and merchandise.
Follow company policies, procedures, and standards, including those in operations, personnel, visual, and customer service manuals and company memos.
Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring internal control procedures are accurate and effective, and report potential fraud risks to management or appropriate officials.
Perform general administrative duties and train in Store Manager responsibilities.
In the Store Manager’s absence, supervise employees, interview and train employees, plan and assign work, direct work, and resolve problems in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
