The Assistant Manager is responsible for everything that happens during a shift, including cost, inventory, and cash controls and customer relations. The role sets an example for the crew by following all policies and procedures and expecting the same from team members. Duties include staffing, paperwork, food management, working to a schedule, maintaining store standards and cleanliness, customer service, marketing, and supporting profitability. The position also performs general store-team tasks such as operating equipment, stocking ingredients, preparing products, handling telephone orders, taking inventory, completing paperwork, and cleaning equipment and the facility. On-the-job orientation and training are provided. Team members must communicate with customers and coworkers, process orders by phone and in person, use a computer keyboard or touchscreen, and perform basic arithmetic and cash handling. The work may involve exposure to changing temperatures, food odors, cornmeal dust, hot surfaces, sharp edges, moving mechanical parts, cramped spaces, and adverse weather. Physical tasks include standing, walking, lifting and carrying supplies, pushing or pulling trays, climbing stairs or ladders, bending, crouching, reaching, and frequent hand use. Delivery-related duties include driving and carrying orders to customers; delivery requires a valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle that meets company standards.
