About The Position

The Assistant Manager assists and consults with the Store Manager on overall store operations and administrative duties, including determining methods and approaches for meeting store goals. The role requires knowledge of each product area or department, adherence to company policies and visual standards, and a commitment to outstanding customer service and merchandise sales. The Assistant Manager assumes supervisory control and store responsibilities in the Store Manager’s absence and is trained in Store Manager responsibilities. The Assistant Manager helps manage store assets, personnel, inventory, sales, expenses, merchandising, ordering, restocking, and scheduling. The role also provides guidance to employees and customers, supports customer service standards, and helps protect company assets and financial information through effective internal controls.

Requirements

Experience working in a retail environment; footwear and athletic apparel experience is preferred.
1–3 years of customer service experience.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and precisely.
Team player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.

Nice To Haves

Retail experience, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.

Responsibilities

Assist the Store Manager in controlling company assets.
Consult with the Store Manager on action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
Assume responsibility for the entire store in the Store Manager’s absence.
Assist with recruiting, training, and evaluating personnel.
Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across departments.
Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to support profitability.
Direct staff to ensure departmental responsibilities and standards are completed.
Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
Ensure quality customer service is maintained, including assisting customers as they enter and helping multiple customers during peak periods.
Promote and sell company services and merchandise.
Follow company operations, personnel, visual, and customer service policies, procedures, and standards.
Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring effective internal control procedures and reporting potential fraud risks to management or appropriate officials.
Perform general administrative duties as needed.
In the Store Manager’s absence, supervise employees, including interviewing and training, planning and assigning work, directing work, and resolving problems.
