About The Position

The Assistant Residence Manager supports the Residence Manager in overseeing daily operations of the residence, ensuring high-quality care and compliance with agency and regulatory standards. This role provides direct supervision to direct care staff, maintains accurate consumer records, and delivers direct support services while serving as a role model for staff. The position requires strong organizational, communication, and basic computer skills (Outlook, Microsoft Office, Excel).

Requirements

  • One to two years experience working with the developmentally disabled is necessary.
  • A valid NYS Driver's license is required.

  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Associate's Degree preferred or a combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordinating daily residential operations and ensuring a safe, supportive environment for consumers.
  • Supervise, train, and support direct care staff, including onboarding and performance monitoring.
  • Provide direct care services and serve as a role model for staff in delivering person-centered support.
  • Promote consumer independence by implementing individualized goals established by the interdisciplinary team (IDT), including skills such as budgeting, grooming, nutrition, transportation, and community integration.
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies, procedures, and OPWDD regulations.
  • Maintain and update consumer records in systems such as Avatar, including EMAR, daily census, and data collection.
  • Monitor and document consumer progress, including behavior plans, goal tracking, and required reports.
  • Participate in IDT meetings, case conferences, and service planning activities.
  • Assist with payroll processing and petty cash management.
  • Review incidents, support investigations, and ensure appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Maintain communication with families, day programs, and external service providers; serve as a liaison between stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and support recreational activities for consumers.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for emergencies.
  • Attend required meetings and trainings across various locations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all agency standards and protocols.
  • Provide physical support as needed, including crisis intervention and administration of first aid.
  • Successfully complete required trainings, including AMAP, SCIP, CPR, and First Aid.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
