The Assistant Manager assists the General Manager (GM) in planning and implementing strategies to attract and retain members, ensuring a positive culture aligned with Excel Core Values. This role is accountable for the hiring process, including candidate selection, interviewing, and onboarding documentation. The Assistant Manager is responsible for training and developing new team members, ensuring all staff maintain up-to-date certifications and training requirements. They will counsel and discipline team members on performance, and supervise, inspire, motivate, and coach staff to achieve their best. This position supports the GM in monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and ensuring a clean facility with a great atmosphere and world-class member service. Responsibilities include daily club inspections, assigning and re-inspecting cleaning tasks, entering work orders into the Computer Maintenance Management System, and holding team members accountable for company standards. The Assistant Manager will audit daily paperwork, resolve member issues, manage club inventory, and assist with marketing and promotional activities. They will also create club schedules, verify payroll items, ensure adherence to company policies, and report major infractions to HR. Additionally, this role involves assisting with Team Player Assessments (TPAs) and competency evaluations, maintaining availability for operational questions and emergencies, and being on call during peak seasons. The Assistant Manager oversees club operations and staff when the GM is unavailable and represents the company at community events. They also assist with conducting and leading team meetings.
