About The Position
The Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager in day-to-day convenience-store operations and helps maintain a high-energy, customer-focused store. The role includes serving customers, leading and developing team members, managing inventory and merchandising, maintaining store cleanliness, creating schedules, and handling cash and financial tasks. The Assistant Manager serves as acting manager when the Store Manager is away. This position requires open availability, including weekends and holidays, and primarily second- or third-shift work. Candidates must be at least 21, have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license with vehicle insurance to complete bank deposits, communicate proficiently in English, have basic math skills, and have or be able to obtain food safety certification. Physical tasks include cleaning restrooms, taking out trash, and maintaining outdoor areas such as fuel pumps.
Requirements
- Open availability to work weekends, holidays, and primarily second or third shifts.
- Valid driver's license, access to a personal vehicle, and proof of insurance for completing bank deposits.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Proficiency in English and basic math skills.
- Willingness to learn.
- Must have or be able to obtain a Food Safety Certification.
- Comfort with cleaning restrooms, taking out trash, and maintaining outdoor areas such as fuel pumps.
Responsibilities
- Support the Store Manager in all aspects of day-to-day operations.
- Operate the register and assist customers quickly, accurately, and courteously.
- Coach and motivate team members to upsell products and promotions.
- Help hire, train, and lead a high-performing team focused on customer service and store success.
- Act as manager when the Store Manager is away.
- Handle inventory, ordering, and merchandising to keep the store stocked.
- Maintain cleanliness, including restrooms, trash areas, and fuel pumps.
- Create and manage team schedules to ensure full coverage.
- Handle daily cash, make deposits, and oversee store financials.
- Provide feedback and leadership that motivates the team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
