About The Position

This position is located in Princess Anne, Maryland. Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Wilmington is seeking an Assistant Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and management of Bethany House, a 22-bed emergency homeless shelter for families and individuals. The schedule for this full-time position may vary and requires flexibility to work daytime, evening, and overnight shifts based on operational needs.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Human Services, or related field and three years of program management experience including staff supervision; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with fiscal management practices including creating and managing a budget.
Proven leadership ability, effective communication skills, and the ability to manage time effectively.
Strong computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office/365, including Word, Excel, database management, and email applications.
Ability to interpret and apply complex rules and regulations.
Ability to motivate employees to work as a team, implementing decisions and reaching objectives.
Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
Ability to safeguard access to confidential, or sensitive, information and data.
Ability to build trust and rapport with individuals from diverse cultural, socio-economic, and ethnic backgrounds.
Willingness to consent to a satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening in accordance with applicable laws.

Responsibilities

Oversees operational functions of the shelter including intake, screening, and assessment processes, budgeting, record keeping, and compliance.
Manages occupancy levels, and room assignments, according to shelter policies and guidelines.
Develops procedures to manage the shelter in an efficient, effective, manner compliant with state and federal laws and regulations.
Coordinates and oversees the provision of support services, including access to meals, hygiene facilities, healthcare, and other essential services; works with external services and resources such as housing assistance, employment, and social services programs to further client progress toward self-sufficiency.
Ensures the facility is clean, safe, and well maintained at all times.
Develops, documents, and implements individualized service plans to address client specific needs and goals.
