About The Position

The Assistant Manager assists and consults with the Store Manager on overall store operations and administrative duties, including determining methods and approaches to achieve store goals. The role requires knowledge across product areas and departments, adherence to company policies and standards, and a commitment to outstanding customer service and merchandise sales. The Assistant Manager assumes supervisory control and Store Manager responsibilities when the Store Manager is absent.

Requirements

Retail environment experience; footwear and athletic apparel experience preferred.
1–3 years of customer service experience.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and precisely.
Team player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.

Responsibilities

Assist the Store Manager in controlling company assets.
Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
Assume responsibility for the entire store in the Store Manager’s absence.
Assist with personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation.
Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across departments.
Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to support profitability.
Direct staff to ensure departmental responsibilities and standards are completed.
Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
Maintain quality customer service, including assisting customers as they enter and serving multiple customers during peak periods.
Promote and sell company services and merchandise.
Follow company policies, procedures, and standards in operations, personnel, visual merchandising, and customer service.
Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring effective internal controls and informing management or appropriate officials of potential fraud risks.
Perform general administrative duties as needed and train in Store Manager responsibilities.
Supervise employees in the Store Manager’s absence, including interviewing and training, planning and assigning work, directing employees, and resolving problems.
