About The Position

R. J. Corman is seeking a dynamic and passionate Assistant Manager to join our team in Osceola, AR. This role involves managing switching operations within one of the largest steel mills in the U.S. The Assistant Manager will ensure safe, efficient, and profitable operations, lead and supervise personnel, manage resources, and provide hands-on support, including stepping in for the Operations Manager when needed. The position requires a strong technical background and field experience.

Requirements

• 5 years of supervisory experience in a related field.
• Deep knowledge of and commitment to safety rules and procedures.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Self-motivation.
• Ability to work outdoors in any weather conditions.
• Availability 24/7/365.
• Ability to perform physically strenuous work, including lifting up to 80lbs and exerting up to 150lbs of force to throw a switch.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, and balance constantly.
• Frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
• Ability to lift, carry, stand, walk on uneven surfaces, manipulate, grasp, reach out, climb, kneel, bend, twist, and push/pull within confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safe, efficient, and profitable management of switching operations.
• Schedule, coordinate, and supervise a team of personnel.
• Manage materials, tools, and equipment for daily operations.
• Perform the duties of switching crews when needed.
• Take charge as the Operations Manager in their absence.
• Utilize field experience and technical knowledge to enhance operations.
