About The Position

This role requires meeting the qualifications of a Residential Instructor, including the ability to lift 70-75lbs and utilize approved protective hold techniques. The Assistant Manager will support the Program Manager in various operational and supervisory duties, ensuring client care and staff schedules are maintained. This position involves direct work with youth who may exhibit challenging behaviors and requires acting as a role model for both clients and staff. The Assistant Manager will also be responsible for the overall running of the residential home in the Program Manager's absence and will assist in program development and consultant coordination.

Requirements

  • Valid CT driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Must be able to become certified in CPR and First Aid.
  • Must become Medication Administration Certified within 4 months of the date of hire.
  • Responsible for renewing all required certifications.
  • Demonstrate organizational ability.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with adults who are developmentally disabled.
  • Demonstrate ability to supervise and guide other staff while acting on behalf of the Program Manager.
  • Demonstrate ability to maintain consumers’ right to privacy, and adhere to CRI’s Confidentiality policy.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current issues in the field of Developmental Disabilities.
  • Ability to lift 70-75lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Meet qualifications for Residential Instructor job functions and requirements.
  • Utilize approved protective hold techniques to ensure safety.
  • Work with youth who may potentially cause harm to self or others.
  • Assist the Program Manager in scheduling and maintaining adequate staffing.
  • Ensure client care and activity schedules are maintained.
  • Ensure data sheets are current and complete.
  • Participate in CRI in-service training and assist with staff in-servicing.
  • Be responsible for the overall running of the residential home in the absence of the Program Manager.
  • Participate in the Interdisciplinary Team process and provide input/write reports.
  • Assist with all other duties designated by the Program Manager.
  • Assist the Program Manager with the development of programs for each client.
  • Work with consultants to ensure recommended services are adhered to.
  • Conduct him/herself as a good role model to clients and staff.
  • Participate in all staff meetings.
  • Aid CRI in maintaining positive relationships with the community.
  • Familiarize self with CRI Policies and Procedures, ensuring compliance.
  • Help maintain a clean program site on a daily basis.
  • Provide supervision to staff.
  • Rotate on-call coverage to handle staffing issues and problems.
