About The Position

The Terrain Park Assistant Manager supports the daily operation, maintenance, and safety of all terrain parks and freestyle features. This position assists with supervision of Terrain Park Attendants, ensuring compliance with company standards, maintaining an exceptional guest experience, and supporting the planning, construction, and upkeep of terrain park features. The Assistant Manager reports to the Terrain Park Manager and works closely with the Mountain Operations team and other departments within the company to provide a reasonably safe and enjoyable freestyle environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of mountain operations experience
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to operate snowmobiles and UTVs
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Familiarity with current terrain park trends and feature design principles
  • Expert level ski or snowboard ability
  • Flexibility with scheduling and ability to work mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Vail Resorts systems and procedures
  • Experience operating snow grooming equipment
  • Experience with metal fabrication and basic carpentry

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Terrain Park Manager with hiring, training, scheduling of terrain park staff
  • Serve as acting supervisor in the absence of the Terrain Park Manager
  • Assist with tracking labor, materials and supplies while maintaining accurate reporting and documentation related to terrain park operations
  • Supervise Terrain Park Attendants and provide coaching, performance feedback, and ongoing development
  • Assist with the development of the daily operational plan and ensure Terrain Park Attendants stay on task and have a regular presence in all terrain parks
  • Conduct regular inspections of terrain parks and features to ensure safety and quality standards
  • Maintain proper signage, fencing/park boundaries, and feature closures as necessary
  • Manage terrain park employee and guest safety through educational enforcement of company and department guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Contribute ideas for feature design/layouts and lead Terrain Park Attendants through the park build and feature shaping process
  • Communicate and collaborate with snowmaking and grooming teams for quality control of terrain parks and terrain park features
  • Investigate incidents within the terrain park boundaries and assist with documentation and reporting
  • Address concerns raised by guests and/or Ski Patrol professionally and resolve issues promptly
  • Communicate clearly and effectively via 2-way radio
  • Support special events, freestyle competitions, and other departments as needed and as assigned
