Assistant Manager Retail
About The Position
Assist the Store Manager with all tasks necessary for the efficient operation of the store. Responsible for management of the retail store in the manager's absence. This role involves assisting in training, motivating personnel, overseeing sales floor and donation area operations, creating an exciting shopping environment, and maintaining store operations. The Assistant Manager serves as a positive role model, ensures quality control of products, provides excellent customer service, and represents the company positively in the community. Adherence to company values and reporting of any wrongdoing are also key aspects of this position.
Requirements
- Two (2) years experience working with the public.
- Supervisory experience.
- Valid Nebraska driver's license and meet insurance requirements.
- Ability to communicate in spoken conversation, adequate volume speech, and have normal hearing for conversation and telephone use.
- Ability to be independently mobile on all surfaces and situations, to move safely about the work area.
- Visual acuity, depth perception and field of vision within normal range.
- Physical stamina to work at least 8 hours per day.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull objects weighing up to 50#, frequently lifting 25#.
- Good verbal communication skills to explain work procedures and assign tasks.
- Ability to make appropriate decisions based on circumstances/facts.
- Ability to interact and meet with people, cooperate with other workers pleasantly and friendly, and deal with people effectively.
- Ability to count money and do math operations quickly and correctly.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Store Manager in training, challenging, and motivating store personnel.
- Oversee and assist with work performed on the sales floor, including salvaging, stocking, organizing, and cleanliness.
- Ensure all procedures related to store work activity are adhered to and documented.
- Oversee and assist with work performed in the donation area and donation center, including organizing donations, processing, and quality control.
- Determine items to be separated for e-commerce.
- Assist the Store Manager in creating an exciting shopping environment.
- Maintain store, including opening and closing, as requested by the manager.
- Serve as a positive role model to employees.
- Responsible for quantity and quality control of product coming into the store, product processing, and movement of product to the sales floor.
- Back up cashier as needed.
- Maintain a positive image in the community and develop good relations with customers, donors, co-workers, and guests.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Timely arrival at the workplace and consistent attendance.
- Perform work activities in conformance to Goodwill Values Statement.
- Immediately report any wrongdoing, unethical or improper conduct, fraud, fiscal mismanagement or misappropriation of funds.
- Encourage and do not hinder employees making reports related to the Corporate Compliance Program or work injury.
- Ensure no employee is retaliated against for making reports or reporting work injuries.
