About The Position

The Paint Specialist / Supervisor / Assistant Manager operates and monitors automated robotic painting systems to ensure automotive interior parts meet customer requirements for appearance, color, gloss, and adhesion. The role includes optimizing robot teaching and programming, monitoring paint-process conditions, troubleshooting defects, and ensuring parts are properly prepared and handled before and after painting.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with automated robotic painting operations, including robot teaching and path programming.
• Strong understanding of paint application processes, fluid delivery systems, and automotive interior appearance requirements such as color, gloss, and texture.
• Ability to troubleshoot paint defects and independently adjust process parameters such as viscosity, film thickness, and oven temperature.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two to five or more years of progressive experience in spray painting, robotic painting, or surface finishing within the automotive industry.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Yaskawa robots and 3D teaching.
• Technical certification in robotics, manufacturing, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot automated painting robots and related application systems, including spray guns, pumps, and nozzles.
• Perform and optimize robot teaching, including 3D offline teaching and path programming, to achieve consistent paint coverage and film thickness.
• Monitor paint-process parameters, including viscosity, temperature, humidity, airflow, booth pressure, flash times, and oven curing conditions.
• Identify and resolve paint defects, including runs, sags, orange peel, dry spray, dirt or contamination, pinholes, and color or gloss variation.
• Ensure proper preparation, masking, and handling of interior parts before and after painting to prevent damage or contamination.
