About The Position

The Richmond SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to animal welfare, aiming to create a community committed to saving, protecting, and enriching animal lives. They focus on education and resources to achieve a no-kill community, rescuing and rehabilitating approximately 4,000 animals annually and providing programs to keep pets in homes. The Assistant Manager of Events works with the Manager of Events to plan, organize, and execute fundraising, community engagement, and mission-driven events, including major traditions like the Fur Ball and Dog Jog. Responsibilities

  • Support the Manager of Events in overseeing all aspects of signature and non-signature event planning and execution, from concept to post-event evaluation.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Events to develop and implement a comprehensive non-signature event strategy aligned with fundraising and community engagement goals.
  • Continuously innovate and improve existing non-signature events to ensure relevance, engagement, and impact.
  • Coordinate signature event committee meetings.
  • Assist with marketing efforts for the Dog Jog, 5K, and Block Party, including participant registration, event promotion, and raffle sales, in coordination with the Manager of Events and Communications team.
  • Assist the Manager of Events in coordinating event staffing needs for the Dog Jog, 5K, and Block Party, in partnership with People Operations and the Volunteer Management Team.
  • Process, enter, and acknowledge event-related donations, ticketing, registrations, raffle ticket purchases, and sponsorship pledges/payments accurately within a week of receipt.
  • Track and fulfill marketing benefits and provide accurate invoices for event sponsorships.
  • Manage signature event raffles.
  • Assist with the redemption process for prize and auction packages for signature fundraising events.
  • Help maintain the integrity of event donor and gift data collected through various platforms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
