About The Position

In this role, the Assistant Manager, MRI provides operational and technical leadership for inpatient and/or outpatient MRI services within the Department of Radiology. This position plays a key role in ensuring safe, high‑quality imaging services through effective management of daily operations, staffing, and workflow optimization. The Assistant Manager oversees technical excellence across MRI services, ensures staff competency and regulatory compliance, and actively supports scheduling efficiency and appropriate staffing levels. This role is responsible for the onboarding, training, and ongoing development of MRI technologists and student technologists, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Operating in both a leadership and hands‑on technical capacity, the Assistant Manager partners with radiologists, leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver reliable, patient‑centered imaging services.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree - or equivalent training acquired via work experience
  • 3-5 years of previous job-related experience
  • May require on-call, weekend, holiday and emergency coverage as department needs warrant.
  • Specific Degree(s): Radiologic Technology- MRI
  • Expected to function as a "working manager"
  • Ability to distinguish between types of medical procedures and diagnoses
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, prioritization, and decision-making skills
  • Assist in training student technologist rotating through the department
  • Requires travelling to offsite locations as needed
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) program
  • ARRT (MRI) licensure
  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) from American Heart Association only
  • EPIC, PAC experience or equivalent
  • Excel Proficient (intermediate)
  • Testing for proficiency maybe required

Responsibilities

  • Support the Manager with daily operations, staff scheduling, performance management, hiring support, and competency evaluations.
  • Assist in advancing departmental goals that promote teamwork, patient‑centered care, and staff engagement and retention.
  • Oversee timekeeping, schedule coverage, and compliance with hospital and departmental policies.
  • Contribute to staffing and budget management by monitoring daily volumes and adjusting coverage as needed.
  • Maintain clinical proficiency by performing imaging procedures in accordance with departmental standards when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
