About The Position

The Assistant Manager I supports the Store Manager with store operations, customer service, and team development. The role helps maintain merchandise, promotional displays, store organization, and cleanliness; carries out opening and closing procedures and corporate directives; assists with ordering, records, scheduling, payroll, deposits, and loss prevention; and helps supervise, train, and develop Store Associates. The position also promotes a safe, respectful, and customer-friendly store environment and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 pounds from floor to above shoulder height and meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address their questions or concerns.
Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks to the stockroom and sales floor as needed, and maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other communications about store activities.
Maintain the promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with merchandise ordering, damaged merchandise processing, record keeping, payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits and receipts, and loss prevention.
Maintain the sales floor and stockroom to company standards, including keeping the sales floor well stocked and the stockroom organized.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow safety guidelines and company policies and procedures, and ensure store associates follow them.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Maintain a positive, safe, respectful environment and interact professionally and cordially with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping all areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
