About The Position

The Assistant Manager I helps the Store Manager with store operations, customer service, and team development. The role supports day-to-day store activities, merchandise flow and presentation, store records and loss prevention, and adherence to company policies and safety procedures. It also helps maintain a clean, organized, well-stocked store and a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and associates. Other related duties may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height and meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
Help move and organize merchandise from delivery trucks through the stockroom to the sales floor, and maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives and communications, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, and Key Survey information requests.
Maintain the promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (including payroll, scheduling, and cash register deposits and receipts), and loss prevention.
Maintain the sales floor, stockroom, and other store areas to company standards, including keeping the sales floor well stocked and the stockroom organized.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines, and ensure store associates do the same.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Promote a positive, safe, and respectful environment and maintain professional, friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
